OWENSBORO, KY - Playing in their first home games of the 2022 season, the Kentucky Wesleyan baseball team hung tight with #7 Trevecca Nazarene before eventually falling 7-1 and 8-3 in doubleheader action.
Trevecca Nazarene now moves to 14-2 (2-0 G-MAC) while KWC falls to 0-14 (0-2 G-MAC).
Game One
After giving up a two-run home run in the first, starter
Seth Wright (0-2) was dominant against TNU. In seven innings of action he gave up just two earned runs and struck out a career high 12 batters. Trevecca scored five runs in the final three innings to pull away for the six-run victory.
Reece Puckett went 2-for-3 in the game and scored Wesleyan's lone run.
Game Two
Wesleyan started off game two with a bang, going up 1-0 in the 2nd on a home run to center from
Jaret Humphrey.
After TNU answered in the top of the 3rd, Wesleyan came right back with two runs of their own.
Kyle Werries hit an RBI single to score
Ben Wilcoxson, then
Landon Moberly scored Werries on a groundout to third.
Wesleyan was held scoreless the rest of the game and Trevecca took it by an 8-3 score.
Kyle Werries led the Panthers by going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Brayden Bush (0-4) struck out four in five innings of work.
KWC will have a chance at redemption tomorrow as they host Trevecca in another doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
