Seniors Say Goodbye in Style

OWENSBORO, KY. – It was a night to remember at the historic Owensboro Sportscenter on Thursday evening. The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team finished its season with an 86-73 victory over Lake Erie College. The seniors shined in the victory as Wyatt Battaile finished with a double-double and Jamil Wilson surpassed 20 points for the first time this season.
 
The game started in favor of the Storm (12-13, 6-12 GMAC) as they scored 10 points unanswered in the first three minutes. The Panthers (14-14, 9-11 GMAC) trailed for a majority of the first half. LEC still kept a 10-point (35-25) advantage with five minutes to go in the half.
 
wyattJamil Wilson ignited a 17-5 rally to end the half as he scored 15 points in the run including a three- point jumper in the final 10 seconds to give the Panthers a 42-40 lead at the break. The Storm was in the bonus within the first three minutes of the second half, but Wesleyan never trailed the rest of the game. They increased their lead to 63-55 after a Battaile free-throw with 10 minutes left in the game.
 
Battaile scored 14 of his game-high 27 points in the second half. With six minutes left Battaile gave the Panthers their biggest lead of the game, 71-59, after a pair of free throws. Battaile made nine of 10 from the charity stripe as the final minutes were with minimal stress. The Panthers helped secure the win by making 23 of 28 free throws on the night.
 
Ben Sisson was four for four in the second half, scoring nine points and finished the game with 15 points and six rebounds. Battaile led all scorers with 27 points and 10 rebounds, recording his third double-double of the season. Wilson added 21 points and four assists. The third senior on the 21-22 squad, Nathan Boyle added five points, five rebounds, and three assists. Jordan Roland recorded 12 points and six assists.
