HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team continued its season on Saturday at the Charger Chillout. The Panthers fell to the 12
th ranked University of Indianapolis in the morning before suffering a 11-6 loss to Spring Hill in the day's second game.
In an early morning contest as first pitch came at 10:30AM, the Panthers suffered an 8-0 loss to UIndy. The no. 12 Greyhound utilized a four-run fourth inning to build a 7-0 lead and added another run in the fifth to cap the scoring.
Mikayla Benson recorded the lone hit for the Panthers as the Greyhounds got a gem of a pitching performance from Kenzee Smith.
Against Spring Hill the Panthers gave-up six runs in the opening inning, but mounted a late inning comeback only to fall short.
Hannah Scheberle started the top of the sixth with a single. Two batters Scheberle scored on
MaKenna Page's two-run triple.
Grace Scott followed with a sacrifice fly to cut the Panthers' deficit to 7-3.
Mary Morgan doubled to keep the line moving, after a single by Benson, Wesleyan had two-runners on with two outs.
Meryck Hardley brought both runners in with a two-run single. Hardly later scored on
Augusta Garr's single to leftfield.
The Panthers trailed 7-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but Spring Hill countered with four runs to build a big enough cushion to escape with a victory.
Calysta Crum finished the game three for four with two runs scored. Morgan recorded a two for four day with a double and RBI. Scott completed six innings, allowing 11 runs, five earned on 14 hits with four strikeouts.
KWC will be right back at it tomorrow when they face Lincoln Memorial at 10AM CT and host No. 23 Alabama Huntsville at 2:30PM
