HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team opened its season on Friday afternoon with game one of a three-game set against Lincoln Memorial University. The Panthers took to the field with a brand new line-up, but it was the Railsplitters who came away with an 11-1 victory.
Seth Wright was the Panthers opening day starter, but after a clean first inning Wright was chased from the game. The Railsplitters were in the Panthers' bullpen the rest of the game.
In the opening inning
Robert Chayka connected for his first homerun of the season. A two-out blast over the leftfield wall. In the second inning, back-to-back solo homeruns gave LMU the lead. They would go on to load the bases in the inning and score two more times.
The Railsplitters would score three more in the fourth and two in the fifth to build a comfortable cushion into the later innings. The Panthers would record five hits on the day and left four runners on base.
The Panthers will have two more games against LMU on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM CT.
