PEPPER PIKE, OH - Going up 25-7 after the opening quarter, the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers cruised to a 60-45 victory over the Ursuline Arrows on Thursday night.
With the win Kentucky Wesleyan moves to 10-5 (7-2 G-MAC) while Ursuline falls to 7-6 (4-4 G-MAC).Â
Capped off by a
Corina Conley three, the Panthers opened the game by shooting 5-7 from the field to go up 14-0 six minutes in. Following a
Tahlia Walton bucket and another Conley three,
Rachel Richardson closed the fantastic quarter with a three of her own to give KWC a 25-7 lead at the end of one. Wesleyan forced eight first quarter turnovers from Ursuline and held them to just five total shots from the field.Â
With the Arrows attempting to make a small comeback midway through the second quarter, Richardson hit two straight buckets to put the Panthers back up 18 with three minutes to go in the half. Thanks to a big offensive rebound from
Jordyn Barga, Walton put in a layup in right before halftime to give Wesleyan a comfortable 36-16 lead at halftime.Â
After Ursuline scored the first four points of the second half, four straight points from
Cali Nolot and a bucket from
Shiya Hoosier quickly stemmed the tide. Wesleyan continued to pressure the ball and went into the final frame up 46-30.Â
Walton scored six of the Panther's 14 points in the fourth quarter and KWC went on to easily take the 15 point victory over their foes from up north.Â
Tahlia Walton led the way with 16 points, while
Jordyn Barga,
Rachel Richardson, and
Cali Nolot each tallied nine. Barga hauled in six rebounds while Walton led with three assists.Â
The Panthers were very efficient on the night, going 22-40 (55.0%) from the floor and 6-15 (40%) from three. Ursuline shot 17-42 (40.5%) from the field and just 3-15 (20%) from three.Â
The Panthers forced 22 turnovers on the Arrows and led 26-15 in points off turnovers.Â
