OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team saw a victory over the University of Southern Indiana stolen away in the ninth inning on Wednesday afternoon. The Screaming Eagles struggled offensively throughout the contest, but with the help of a ninth inning rally escaped with a non-conference victory.
The Panthers (15-5) were in complete control throughout most of the contest and took a 3-0 after three innings. Wesleyan scored three times in the third as a throwing error allowed two runs to score.
Brayden Sisson drove-in the third run with a double down the left field line.
Robert Chayka led-off the bottom of the fourth inning with a homerun to center, forcing the Screaming Eagles (16-12) into a pitching change. The Panthers added another run in the frame with
Chase Andrews' two-out single into centerfield. Wesleyan looked to inflict more damage, but left the bases loaded in the frame.

USI chased Wesleyan starter
Nolan Johnson from the game in the fifth as they scored twice to cut into the Panthers lead, 5-2.
Rylan Thomas got out of a jam in the sixth while
Nate Cunningham,
Timmy Rogers, and
Ike Speiser pitched clean innings and bridged the Panthers to the ninth with a 5-2 lead.
Kobe Stephens coaxed a walk to lead off the ninth and Bryce Krizan doubled and advanced to third on an error. Stephens scored on the play. After another walk the go ahead run was at the plate.
Drake Hamil struck-out Austin Wilderman to get the first out of the inning.
USI got one run closer as Krizan scored while Ethan Hunter stole second base. Manny Lopez then clubbed a two-run homerun over the leftfield fence to give the Screaming Eagles a 6-5 lead.
Chayka led off the ninth with a single and
Ben Wilcoxson moved him to second with a sacrifice bunt. Chayka moved to third on
Cody Bridges' groundout, which he nearly beat-out at first. However, a strikeout ended the game.
Bridges, Andrews, and Chayka each finished with three hits.
Joseph Burke drove-in a run as did Andrews and Sisson.
The Panthers will return to Great Midwest action on Saturday as they open a four-game series against Hillsdale College. First pitch at Panthers Park is scheduled for 12 PM.
