NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team saw its season end on Friday night with a loss to Trevecca Nazarene. The Panthers fell in four sets to their rival Trojans.
The opening set was tied at 14 before the Trojans (5-6) took control by winning six of the next seven points. The framed ended before the Panthers could complete a comeback, falling 25-22. Trevecca caught fire in the second set, holding a .462 attacking percentage in the frame en route to a 25-16 win and a 2-0 lead.
The Panthers (2-9) quickly erased the sour taste of the second set with a win in the third. The back-and-forth frame featured seven ties and three lead changes. The last tie occurred at 24-24 after an
Alexa Davis kill. That followed with a block and another kill by
Lilly Trump to pick-up a 26-24 win. Davis recorded five kills in the frame while
Ava Rebarchik added four kills.
With the fourth set in the balance, the Trojans won five straight points after being tied 8-8. Trevecca finished the run winning 10 of 13 points to take an 18-11 lead. The Panthers could not recover and fell 25-18 in the frame.
Davis finished with 10 kills and an ace. Rebarchik added nine kills and three block assists.
Carlee Widmer dished out 21 assists while
Nilah Roy led defensively with 17 digs.
