OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's tennis team fell in their crosstown clash with Brescia University on Wednesday afternoon at Moreland Park. The Bearcats had to work hard for a 7-0 shutout of the Panthers.
The Bearcats earned their first win of the season as they got off to a good start by earning the doubles point. In singles competition
John Thomas Hayden was featured in the number one match with Danila Dyzh. In a highly competitive match, Dyzh found an early break and hung-on to take a 6-3 victory of the opening set. Hayden suffered a similar fate in the second set as an early break cost the tall sophomore a chance to even the match, falling 6-3.
Wesley Matthews dropped the number two singles match 6-2, 6-3.
Evan Morton fell 6-0, 6-3 in the number three singles match.
Adan Cano lost number four single 6-1, 6-2 while
Kevin Giron dropped an 8-4 decision at number five.
The Panthers will host Hillsdale College on Saturday morning. The match at Moreland Park is scheduled to start at 10 AM CT.
