FINDLAY, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team returned to action on Tuesday afternoon with its toughest test of the season. The 23
rd ranked University of Findlay looked in top form in a 95-65 win over the Panthers. The game marks the first action for Wesleyan since February 6
th, a win over Ohio Dominican.
The Oilers (14-4, 13-4 GMAC) sprinted out to an early lead and never looked back. Through the first 5:23, Findlay outscored the Panthers 19-4. A few minutes later the lead grew to 20 points, 28-8 with 11 minutes left in the opening frame.
Findlay knocked down half their shots in the opening 20 minutes and held a 45-26 lead at the break.
Sasha Sukhanov returned to game action to score nine points in the first 20 minutes of play.
Wyatt Battaile's opening three on the Panthers (10-5, 9-5 GMAC) first possession of the second half trimmed the deficit to 47-29.
The Panthers shooting improved from 35% in the opening half to 54% in the second half. Unfortunately, the Oilers produced a 57% clip from the floor to finish the game at 54%. Battaile scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half. He connected on four of five three-point shots as well as pulling in three rebounds.
Sukhanov was five of six from the field to add 12 points. He also grabbed four rebounds and recorded two blocks.
Tre Cobbs added 15 points and three rebounds.
Stew Currie scored nine points and pulled-in five rebounds.
The Panthers will continue their road trip on Saturday in Nashville against Trevecca Nazarene. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:15 PM.
