GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team competed in four matches on Saturday at the Lander Duals. Gabe Adams debuted at 141 pounds and won all four of his matches, but the Panthers came away 0-4 on the day.
 
Wesleyan's match against Allen finished at 36-23. The Panthers got off to a good start as Nick Ornelas won his match at 125 pounds by a technical fall, 19-0. Adams then recorded his lone pin of the day at 141 pounds. Late in the opening period, Adams caught Nyshadd Hannon and turned him to his back to notch a fall in 2:29. Both Chris Mapp and Cameron Fleming won via forfeit.
 
Glenville State topped the Panthers 45-9. Ornelas won his match at 125 pounds by major decision 13-0. Adams took his match by technical fall, 17-1.
 
Against Emmanuel, the Panthers saw Adams win by an 11-4 decision. Mapp took his match at 174 pounds by a 9-6 decision. Wesleyan lost the dual 43-6. Host Lander topped the Panthers 52-4 as Adams won by major decision 16-5.
 
Adams finished the day 4-0 with a pin, tech fall, major decision, and decision. Ornelas also competed in an extra match against Emmanuel and earned a pin to push his record to 3-2 on the day. Mapp also got in an extra match and picked-up an 11-4 decision to finish the day 3-2. Dominick Ciccolella won his lone match at 157 pounds by pin in 61 seconds.
 
The Panthers will return to the mat on Saturday December 18^th and 19^th at the University of Indianapolis. Wesleyan will compete in the biggest and toughest event in Division II, the Midwest Classic.
