OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team opened its 70
th season at the historic Owensboro Sportscenter on Tuesday night. The Panthers flexed their defensive muscles as they held Midway College to 15 points in the second half while coming away with a 72-48 victory.
Ben Sisson produced another career night as he made the use of his minutes to tally a match a career-high.
The Panthers (2-1) shot 38% from the field in the opening half as the Eagles (2-2) went into the locker-room with 34-33 lead.

Ben Sisson complemented eachother as the two big men looked to take over the game in the early minutes. Midway managed to keep the contest close as they pulled even at 16 with 11 minutes left in the opening half, but Sisson left the game with two fouls.

Boyd finished with 12 points in the opening half while Sisson was limited to four points in five minutes. The second half was a different story as Sisson scored the opening basket which was immediately answered by the Eagles.
Over the next 12 minutes, the Panthers embarked on a 22-2 run that established a comfortable 58-39 lead with seven minutes to play. Sisson recorded 12 points in the run. Wesleyan coasted to victory in the final minutes as the defensive pressure never relinquished.
The Panthers shot 46% from the field in second half and finished the game 42% from the field. Midway was six of 27 in the second half and sot 32% from the field on the night. Sisson scored 17 second half points to equal a career-high of 21 points on seven of eight shooting from the floor and seven of nine from the free throw line. He also pulled in six rebounds in 20 minutes of action. Boyd notched his second double-double in three games with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Jamil Wilson was an assist away from a double-double as he finished with 11 points and nine assists.
The Panthers will host East West University on Saturday. Tip-off at the historic Owensboro Sportscenter is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
