LEXINGTON, KY. – The new look Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team took to historic Rupp Arena on Friday evening. The University of Kentucky took home a 95-72 victory over the Panthers as Jomel Boyd produced 29 points. Earlier in the week the Panthers were picked to finished seventh in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after graduating three starters from a 10-6 team last season.

Antonio Thomas each scored early as the Panthers trailed 10-5 at the first media timeout. Midway through the opening half Boyd converted his first basket of the contest, a lay-up followed by a three-point jumper that pulled the Panthers to within 23-14.
The Wildcats answered with a 12-0 run that established their largest lead of the game, 35-14. Kentucky shot 58% from the floor in the opening 20 minute and led 48-30 at the break. The Wildcats maintained their cushion throughout the second half.
The Panthers shot 56% in the second half while the Wildcats were held to 48% from the floor. Boyd collected 17 of his team high 29 points in the second half.
Jamil Wilson scored nine of the 15 points in the second half as well. Wilson came off the bench and made seven of his 10 shots from the field. Boyd also pulled in eight rebounds.
The Panthers will continue their exhibition season with a match-up against Evansville on Thursday. Tip-off at the Ford Center is scheduled for 6PM.
