OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team used a dynamic second half to defeat Malone University on Monday afternoon.
Tre Cobbs notched a career-high 30 points in 82-71 victory over the Pioneers. Wesleyan trailed at the half, but out-scored Malone 47-33 in the final 20 minutes.
It was a back-and-forth first half that was deadlocked at 29 with four minutes left in the frame. The Pioneers (0-2 GMAC) shot 44% in the first half and used a 7-0 late run to build a lead. Malone went into the locker-room with a 38-35 edge.
The Pioneers quickly rebuilt a seven-point edge, 44-37, in the first two minutes of the second half. Cobbs scored all nine points in a 9-0 run to give the Panthers (3-2, 2-2 GMAC) a 46-44 lead.
The game was tied at 59 with eight minutes remaining. A minute later the Pioneers held a 63-59 lead when the Panthers went on a 15-1 run to take a 74-64 lead into the final three minutes of the game.
Jamil Wilson connected on two, three-point shots in the run.

The Panthers' lead remained at least nine points throughout the final minutes of the game. Wilson finished with 20 points, as he scored 17 of those in the second half. Cobbs scored 19 points in the second stanza to finish with 30 points.
Jo Griffin started and recorded six points with nine assists.
Ben Sisson saw limited action due to foul trouble, but made a big impact on the game with five points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks.
The Panthers will host Tiffin on Thursday evening. Tip-off at the historic Sportscenter is scheduled for 7:45 PM.
