NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team punched their ticket to their second straight G-MAC Championship game after posting a 66-48 win over the No. 3 seed Findlay in Friday night's semifinal match up.
The Panthers will square off with the No. 1 seed and regular season champion Walsh in the title game for the second year in a row. The Cavaliers defeated the No. 5 seed Malone by a score of 82-47 in the first semifinal game on Friday.
Wesleyan trailed by as much as five in the first quarter but erupted for a 15-0 run to take a 12-point lead midway through the second. The Oilers were held to just eight points in the second quarter as Wesleyan took a 41-29 lead to halftime.
The third quarter saw the Panthers get outscored 12-10 but the defense shined in the fourth quarter, holding the Oilers to just seven points. Wesleyan outscored Findlay 25-19 in the second half en route to the 18-point victory.
Emma Johnson posted a team-high 12 points including a trio of three's. Keelie Lamb, Leah Richardson and Tahlia Walton all scored in double figures with Lamb pacing the team with nine rebounds.
Maddy Boyle dished out three assists while Lamb, Richardson and Lily Skye Grimes each recorded two steals.
The Panthers forced the Oilers into 21 turnovers while only committing nine themselves. Wesleyan's bench dominated Findlay's by a tally of 35-3.
