G-MAC Quarterfinal Preview

OWENSBORO, Ky. – For the seventh straight season the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball has earned a berth in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship tournament.  The Panthers are slotted as the No. 2 seed and will host the No. 7 seed Tiffin in the first round.  The first of four quarterfinals on Tuesday, tip off is set for 12 pm CT.

Tickets for the game can be purchased in person at The Owensboro Convention Center or online at OwensboroTickets.com (click HERE).  All tickets are $8 per person.  Students of both Kentucky Wesleyan and Tiffin will receive free admission with a valid ID.  Faculty and staff tickets are available for $8 per person.

The Panthers have never missed the G-MAC tournament since the conference was founded in 2013.  Wesleyan is looking for their fifth trip to the semifinals.

The two teams have never met in the postseason and have only matched up four times since Tiffin joined the G-MAC.  The Panthers won the first three meetings before Tiffin stunned the Panthers in double overtime this past weekend.  In Owensboro, the Panthers are 2-0 with a pair of double digit victories.

Wesleyan put together two separate 13-game win streaks this season.  They also hold a program record 33-home game win streak at The Owensboro Sportscenter.  The mark is good for third in the nation among NCAA Division II institutions.

The Panthers have the top defense in the G-MAC this season after holding opponents to 55.0 points per game while their offense ranks second at 81.5 points per game.  They have the top victory margin in the conference, beating opponents by 26.5 points per game.

Wesleyan has one of the most balanced offenses in the league with six players averaging at least 7.1 points per game.  Keelie Lamb paces the team at 14.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while Tahlia Walton averages 10.2 points per game.  Lily Skye Grimes has a team-high 127 assists on the year.

Tiffin won six of their final eight games of the regular season to earn their first postseason appearance since 2012.  The Dragons sit eighth in the conference with 70.0 points per game and seventh in scoring defense at 71.8 points per game.

Aarion Nichols is the lone Dragon to average double figures this season, sitting at 14.5 points per game.  She also paces the team with 7.6 rebounds per game and 92 assists on the year.
