OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team utilized a second half run to put away Oakland City University on Tuesday night. Part of the Mighty Oaks' Homecoming week, the Panthers spoiled the festivities and completed a season sweep of OCU after picking-up a 74-62 non-conference win.
Both teams are different from the November 20
th where the Panthers topped the Mighty Oaks (8-17) 100-68. From the start OCU moved the ball inside offensively to get easy baskets. The Mighty Oaks scored 22 of their 31 first half points from the paint. However, the Panthers (10-14) negated the inside play with outside shots.
Adam Goetz and
Nathan Boyle each accounted for three, three-point baskets in the fist half as the Panthers went into the locker-room with a 34-31 lead. The Panthers pushed ahead in the second half as a 18-0 run built a 22-point lead, 62-40. Both
Erik Bell and
Ben Sisson scored six points in the run that lasted 6:34.

After the run, the Panthers were able to absorb any attack the Mighty Oaks put forward. A 13-2 Mighty Oak rally in the final eight minutes only cut the Wesleyan advantage to 62-53.
Zach Hopewell was clutch down the stretch from the foul line. OCU intentionally put Hopewell on the line late in the game, but the Panthers shooting guard calmly put away seven of eight free-throws.
Goetz finished with 19 points to lead the Panthers.
Nathan Boyle dropped-in four three-point baskets and recorded 12 points. Sisson was five for five from the field and added 10 points. He also grabbed four rebounds and recorded three blocks. Four players reach double figures as
Wyatt Battaile ended the game with 10 points.
Wesleyan will return to Great Midwest play on Saturday with a trip to Nashville. Tip-off against Trevecca Nazarene is scheduled for 4:15 PM.
