No. 22 Wesleyan Ties Program Record 24 Wins

SALEM, W. Va. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team tied the program record for wins in a single season on Saturday, taking down Alderson Broaddus by a score of 89-54 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action.  The 24 wins this season ties the program record set last season at 24-8.

The Panthers, who jumped two spots this week to No. 22 in the WBCA Top 25, have won 11 straight with each of the 11 victories being by at least 10 points.

Wesleyan never trailed as they opened the game with a 9-0 run.  Keelie Lamb, Kaylee Duncan, Kaylee Clifford and Lily Skye Grimes each scored in the run.  The Panthers held the Battlers to just 10 points in the first frame.

Cali Nolot paced the Panthers with seven points in the second quarter.  The sophomore didn't miss a shot, going three-for-three from the floor including one from downtown.

The Panthers put up 26 points in the third quarter for their best offensive frame.  Wesleyan shot nearly 65% on 9-of-14 from field goal range.

With just over one minute remaining in the contest, Emma Johnson knocked back a three to give the Panthers a 37-point lead for their largest lead of the game.

Five scored in double figures for the Panthers in Lamb (16), Jordyn Barga (12), Grimes (11), Nolot (10) and Clifford (10).

Grimes flirted with a double-double, dishing out nine assists which ties a season-high.  Barga paced Wesleyan with seven rebounds and four steals. 

The Panthers forced 23 turnovers that led to 22 points.  Wesleyan dominated the paint by a tally of 42-20.

Wesleyan will have another week-long break, not returning to action until Saturday, February 22.  The Panthers travel to Nashville, Tenn. to take on Trevecca Nazarene University in their second to last G-MAC game of the season.
