Panthers Close Out Three-Game Swing with Overtime Loss

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team completed their three-game, five-day road trip on Saturday, falling to the University of Findlay 77-72 in overtime.  It marked the second time in three games that the Panthers went to extra time.

After an even 14-14 score after the first, Wesleyan outscored the Oilers 22-15 in the second quarter.  Back-to-back three's from Kaylee Clifford and Jordyn Barga gave the Panthers a seven-point lead for their largest lead of the game.  Wesleyan took a 36-27 advantage to half time after scoring 11 points off of 19 Oiler turnovers.

The Panther offense struggled in the third quarter, shooting 4-15 from the floor.  The Oilers took advantage of the opportunity, outscoring Wesleyan 18-10 to take a one-point lead into the final frame.

A three from Clifford put the Panthers ahead by five with 2:11 remaining.  Findlay scored the final five points of regulation, including a tip in with 0.1 seconds left, to send the game to overtime.

Wesleyan struggled to get a shot off in the extra frame, shooting 1-4 from the floor and 0-1 from beyond the arc.  Lily Miller notched a lay up with 11 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to four, but the Oilers converted a free throw moments later to seal the five-point victory.

Barga finished with a career-high 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.  Clifford recorded 12 points and six steals.  Tahlia Walton scored 13 off the bench while grabbing seven rebounds.  Kaylee Duncan and Miller paced the offense with five assists each.

The Panthers will return to action on New Year's Eve, hosting Trevecca Nazarene in a matinee match up.  A decision on fan admittance will be made no later than 48 hours before tip off.  If Daviess County is deemed in the "red zone", fans will not be permitted.  The game will be livestreamed for free on the Great Midwest Digital Network which can be accessed by clicking HERE.
