LEBANON, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling continued its season with a mid-week dual against Cumberland University.
Austin Cook recorded a pin while the Panthers took a 30-15 loss.
In a series of contested bouts, the Panthers (2-3) fell in the opening 125-pounds match as
Adam Bender suffered a 3-0 defeat.
Austin Cook erased the early advantage by the Phoenix (8-5) by pinning Dylan Burton in the second period (4:54). The pin was the first of the season for Cook and it also gave Wesleyan a 6-3 edge.
The Phoenix won 141 by pin and 149 by decision, taking a 12-6 lead.
Trevor South did his best to start a rally as a late take-down allowed him to earn the decision at 157-pounds. South was tied 8-8 in the closing second of the match and took-down Tyler Moore to earn the victory.
At 165-pounds
Dallas Miles took a 3-0 decision while at 174-pounds
Angelo Talabert lost 5-2. Wesleyan also saw
Kairus Washington win at heavyweight by disqualification.
The Panthers will travel to Crawfordsville, Indiana for the Max Services Duals. Wesleyan will face-off with Manchester, Millikin, and Wabash. The first dual will start at 10 AM CT.
