EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball fell to Southern Indiana on Friday evening, snapping their four game winning streak. The Panthers opened the Southern Indiana Invitational with a 3-0 loss to host USI.
Unforced errors were the story of the first set as the Panthers (5-4) committed 11 miscues in the opening frame. Jaylen McEwen converted two kills while Danielle Brouillette recorded another as Wesleyan took a quick 3-0 lead. The Screaming Eagles (5-5) rattled off nine of the next 12 points and never looked back en route to a 25-16 victory.
Wesleyan fell 25-16 in the second set as well and USI connected on an attacking percentage of .417.
In the third the Panthers were matching the Screaming Eagles point-for-point. Julia Moran brought Wesleyan to 9-8, but another run by USI provided a the needed cushion to close-out the match.
The Screaming Eagles held a 15-13 lead before five straight points extended the USI lead. Wesleyan was closed out with a 25-19 loss in the third set. The Panthers struggled offensively, holding a sub .100 attacking percentage on the night.
McEwen finished with nine kills while Karrah Cron added eight kills and 12 assists. Lydia Jackson notched 15 assists. Nilah Roy recorded 16 digs.
The Panthers will have two more games at the Southern Indiana Invitational on Saturday. Wesleyan will take on Arkansas Tech at 10 AM and Shorter at 2:30 PM.
