Panther Football: Game Three Preview

The Kentucky Wesleyan College football team closes out their three-game home stand this weekend, hosting Southwest Baptist University in a jam-packed Homecoming Weekend.  Kickoff is slated for 3 pm CT at Independence Bank Field at Steele Stadium in Owensboro, Ky.

Panther Tailgate
Fans are invited to the Panther Tailgate beginning at 1 pm CT.  Food trucks including J's Good Grub and Frozen Tundra Shaved Ice will be located in the Touchdown Club Parking Lot across from Massie Hall.  Fans are also invited to the Homecoming After Party at Bar Louie in downtown Owensboro.  The first 100 guests will receive a coupon for one free drink beginning at 7 pm CT.  For a full schedule of Homecoming Weekend events, click HERE.

Series History
The Bearcats have won all five match ups from the former Great Lakes Valley Conference days.  Wesleyan is looking for their first home win against Southwest Baptist.

Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (0-2)
The Panthers are coming off of a 34-16 loss to GLVC foe Quincy University.  Wiley Cain earned his first collegiate start, throwing for 277-yards.  The Panther offense tallied 322-yards on the day, a nearly 200-yard improvement from week one.  On the season, Corey Johnson Jr. leads the run game with 99-yards while De'Ondre Boggs is the lone receiver above 100-yards at 138-yards.

Wesleyan's defense forced three fumbles last week while recording a season-high 66 tackles.  Jalen Humphrey, Alijah McGhee and Ramond Jackson are all in double digit tackles on the season.  Armand Childs leads the Panthers with two interceptions, both of which came in the second quarter last week.

Southwest Baptist Bearcats (1-1)
After dropping their first game of the season 29-9 to William Jewell, the Bearcats bounced back with a 38-3 win over Central State last week.  Quarterback Dylan Mountain rushed for 155-yards while throwing for 167-yards and three touchdowns on the night.  Mountain ranks second on the team in rushing behind sophomore Eric Knight at 168-yards.  Junior Curtis Cuillard leads receivers with 198-yards on the season and three touchdowns.  Cuillard has caught all three of the Bearcats' receiving touchdowns.

Southwest Baptist's defense has yet to record a sack this season but have averaged 65 tacklers per game.  After no interceptions in week one, the Bearcats tallied two against Central State last week.  Asa Carter and Quincy Jones Jr. led the team with 12 tackles while Cory Hanger and Darius Powe are right behind at 11.
