LAKELAND, Fla. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team put 12 hits on the board in the series finale on Friday, but fell 6-2 to Florida Southern to close out their trip to Florida.

The Mocs wasted no time establishing a lead, plating four runs in the bottom of the first off of five hits and one error.

Bradlee Fuhrhop led off the top of the second with a double to center field and moved to third on an infield single from Ben WilcoxsonBrayden Sisson laid down a single in right center, scoring Fuhrhop and putting the Panthers on the board.

With two on and one out in the bottom of the fourth, a line drive ricocheted off of pitcher Ian Ellis and landed in front of the mound, allowing the runner to score from third and extending Florida Southern's lead to 5-1.

Wesleyan threatened in the top of the fifth, stringing together three straight singles from Cam Curry, Chase Andrews and Reece Puckett to load the bases with no outs.  Pinch hitter Zach Allen drew a walk to plate a run, but that's all the Panthers were able to score.

The Mocs plated their final run of the game in the sixth to take the game 6-2.

Curry suffered his first loss of the season on the mound, throwing 3.1 innings with eight hits, five runs and two strikeouts.  In 1.2 innings of relief, Ellis allowed one hit.  Rylan Thomas threw 0.2 innings, striking out one and giving up one run.

Taylor Soper struck out three in just 1.1 innings, holding the Mocs hitless.  Benton McGill went 0.2 innings, allowing two hits.  Allen Howe closed out the final 0.1 innings, striking out the lone batter he faced.

Sisson finished two-for-five at the plate with one run drive in.  Wilcoxson went two-for-four while Curry and Andrews both recorded two hits.

The next game for the Panthers will be their home opener and first Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest of the season.  Wesleyan hosts Lake Erie in a four-game series on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17.
