Panthers Produce Record Class

OWENSBORO, Ky. – In the first major benchmark for the 2019 season, Craig Yeast, the Head Football coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College, produced a major statement on Wednesday, National Signing Day. The Panthers welcomed the largest National Signing Day class on record. Wesleyan added 29 players to the roster with the coaching staff showing little signs of slowing down.

The 2019 class consists of 24 commitments from Kentucky, four from Indiana, and one from Georgia. Collectively the new wave of Panthers averages a 3.12 Grade Point Average (GPA) and a 20 ACT score. This is the first class to surpass 20 commitments since 2004 when the program welcomed 24 on National Signing Day. Wesleyan commitments on National Signing Day date back to 2004.

"First, I want to give credit to our coaching staff for the diligent work they have put in on short notice," said Coach Yeast. "They have identified the talented young men that we have brought into our program today."

The Wesleyan Coaching Staff hit the defensive side of the ball the hardest with 17 additions, including eight additions to the defensive line. There are 12 commitments to the Panther offense with five offensive linemen and two tightends. Stay tuned and check back later for additions to the class of 2019.

"We are very excited about this class especially with it being our first class'" continued Coach Yeast.  "We believe that we have identified not only high-level football players, but more importantly we've identified extremely gifted students that are hard working men that care about their academics.  The value that they will bring to our football program will be very fruitful in our future.  I expect this class of young men to lead us into the conversation of becoming conference champions."
