Panthers Complete First Perfect Home Regular Season in Program History

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team capped off their home finale in style on Saturday, defeating Alderson Broaddus 78-48 to complete a perfect 15-0 regular season at The Owensboro Sportscenter for the first time in program history.

The Panthers now boast a 16 home game winning streak dating back to last season, the longest streak in program history.

The 21st victory of the season also sets the most regular season wins under Co-Head Coaches Caleb and Nicole Nieman, as well as, ties the program record for wins in a season set in 1991-92.

Wesleyan wasted little time establishing a strong lead as Jenna Martin knocked back a three-pointer to put the Panthers ahead by 12 less than four minutes into the game.  A field goal percentage of .563 in the first quarter gave Wesleyan a commanding 22-8 lead after one.  In the second frame, a 14-4 run allowed the Panthers to take a 20-point lead with two minutes remaining in the first half.

The Panthers were in cruise control in the second half, outscoring the Battlers 40-26.  Alderson Broaddus cut the deficit to 14 midway through the third, but were unable to close the gap.

Wesleyan closes out the season on the road next weekend, travelling to the University of Findlay and Hillsdale College, who currently sit fourth and fifth in the conference respectively.  The Panthers have already earned the right to host a G-MAC quarterfinal on March 5, but are still looking to clinch the regular season title and home court advantage in the semifinal and championship.

Martin led the offense with 14 points followed by Emma Wolfe and Emma Johnson who both scored 12 points off the bench.  Shayla Wright and Lily Grimes paved the way with seven rebounds apiece.  Grimes dished out a team-high give assists.
