HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team saw its season end at the hands of No. 11 Hillsdale College on Friday night. The Panthers fell in straight sets at the Great Midwest Conference Championship Tournament Semi-Finals while the Chargers (25-3) picked-up their ninth victory in a row and earn a date in the G-MAC Title game on Saturday against Walsh or Tiffin.
Hillsdale utilized its home court from the opening whistle as they won the opening six points. The Chargers held a .216 attacking percentage in first set and closed out Wesleyan 25-14. The Panthers (16-12) settled-in during the back-and-forth second set. Both teams exchanged points early, but the Chargers managed to build a 14-10 lead.
The Panthers rallied winning six of the next eight points to tie the set at 16.
Nicole Martin recorded two kills in that span, including the one that tied the set. However, Hillsdale countered with six consecutive points of their own to take a 22-16 advantage. A couple of late kills from
Jaylen McEwen was not enough firepower for the Panthers to catch-up. The Chargers took a 2-0 lead after winning the second set 25-21.
The Charges rallied from the start of the third set, winning the first 10 points. The third was Hillsdale's best of night as they produced a .481 attacking percentage in the frame. The victory marked the 45
th consecutive win at home for the Chargers who have not fallen inside Potter Arena since the 2017 season.
Martin finished with six kills while
Danielle Brouillette collected five kills.
Lydia Jackson dished out 15 assists while
Nilah Roy led defensively with 15 digs.
