COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team took care of business in the final game of the regular season on Saturday. The Panthers stormed through Ohio Dominican in straight sets to finish 8-4 in Great Midwest play, placing fourth in the league. Wesleyan will host Cedarville on Tuesday in the first round of the G-MAC Championship Tournament.
The Panthers (15-11, 8-4 GMAC) held a .341 attacking percentage in the opening frame, but an inspired ODU team set-out to make things difficult. Things went back-and-forth in the first set and after back-to-back kills from
Danielle Brouillette and
Jaylen McEwen the Panthers had an 11-9 lead. An ODU (3-27, 2-10 GMAC) attacking error followed as the Wesleyan lead was pushed to three.
Dominican won five of the next six points to take a slim 14-13 lead. The Panthers answered with five straight points of their own to go in front 18-14. The 5-0 rally featured a pair of kills from
Sierra Morrow. ODU would not go quietly as they tied the set at 20 as things continued to teeter back and forth.

As things remained tied, this time at 25,
Alexa Davis gave the Panthers set point with a kill. An ace by Morrow sealed the frame, 27-25. Wesleyan hit nearly .400 in the second set and sprinted out to an early lead before winning 25-13. ODU suffered a similar fate in the final set as a 5-0 run gave the Panthers a 12-5 lead which allowed them to continue to a 25-15 win, closing out the match.
Wesleyan held a .319 attacking percentage on the day while McEwen and Davis each finished with a team-best 11 kills. McEwen also collected 11 digs on the day. Morrow added nine kills, three total blocks, and five aces.
Lydia Jackson dished out 26 assists while
Nilah Roy finished with 16 digs.
