Double Trouble

OWENSBORO, KY. – On a brisk fall evening, the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team was experiencing double-vision on Thursday evening. The Panthers rolled to a 4-1 victory over the previously unbeaten in Great Midwest play Walsh University. Kamryn Pulliam scored twice in the first half while Madisyn Hunt scored twice in the second half. The two scores by Hunt secures her place in Wesleyan history as she becomes the school's all-time leading scorer.

The Panthers (5-6, 3-5 GMAC) were on the hunt early as they continually got behind the Cavalier (8-3, 5-1 G-MAC) defense getting breakaway shot attempts. Wesleyan was unable to convert until the 17th minute as Hunt fired a long pass down the far-side of the field to Pulliam who easily converted the first score of the match.

13398It was Déjà vu all over again in the 28th minute as Hunt again found Pulliam breaking away from the Cavs defense to score her second goal of the match. Taylor Rentchler made five saves in the first 45 minutes to preserve a shutout.

Insurance was available in the second period as Hunt scored her 14th goal of the season in the 66th minute. Hunt received Pulliam's over the top pass, sprinting past the Cavs defense for the score. For good measure Natalie Hinchcliffe found Hunt in the 75th minute who converted a recording breaking goal. Hunt converted her 36th career goal, moving her a to the top of the Wesleyan record book for most goals in a career.

The Cavaliers scored with five minutes left to break-up the shutout. Rentchler was tough between the posts as she made 12 saves on the night. Hunt took 13 shots, six on goal with two scores and two assists. Pulliam recorded four shots, two on goal with two scores, including the game-winner with one assist.

The Panthers will host Malone University on Saturday at Great Midwest play continues. The match is scheduled to start at Panther Field at 12 PM.
