PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team lost in four sets to Ursuline College on Friday evening. The contest marked the first road match-up in Great Midwest Conference play.
The Arrows (1-13, 1-3 GMAC) opened with all the momentum, holding an attacking percentage of.438 in the first set. Ursuline cruised to a 25-15 victory in the first set to take an early lead. The margin grew to 2-0 after the Arrows stormed through the second set 25-19.
The Panthers (7-8, 2-2 GMAC) asserted themselves in the third frame. Behind a .229 attacking percentage Wesleyan rolled, cutting the deficit in half after a 25-17 win.
The match tighten in the fourth set, but the Panthers rallied to get to set point at 25-24. However, out of a timeout, the Arrows won two consecutive points to end the set and match, 27-25.
Julia Moran finished with 10 kills and five block assists. Jaylen McEwen added eight kills and 16 digs. Nilah Roy collected 26 digs while Lydia Jackson dished out 32 assists.
The Panthers will look to regroup on Saturday as they will be in Painesville, Ohio to play Lake Erie. The match is scheduled to start at 12 PM CT.
