LEBANON, Tenn. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team will compete in the Cumberland Open on Saturday, but on Friday the Panthers faced off with the Phoenix in a dual match. Wesleyan fell 46-4 to Cumberland University.
LaMont Wilson recorded the lone win for the Panthers (0-4) at 125 pounds. Wilson did not let up the offensive pressure to earned a major decision over Blaine Fussell, 15-6. His win got Wesleyan on the board first with a 4-0 lead.
The Phoenix picked-up three points with a 10-5 win at 133 pounds after Austin Plumlee defeated Andrew Parker. James Loi lost a 15-5 decision at 141 pounds.
Kairus Washington took Grayson Walton to limit at heavyweight, but fell 5-4 to close-out the night. Walton trailed for most of the match, but pulled-out two third period take downs to win the match.
The Panthers will continue action at the Cumberland Open on Saturday. Competition will begin at 9 AM.
