Wesleyan Rolls to 12th Win in 13 Games

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the first time in three meetings, the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball defeated Ohio Dominican University on Thursday evening.  The 75-44 victory marked the 12th win in 13 games for the Panthers and their sixth straight Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory.

Wesleyan wasted no time establishing a strong lead, opening the game with a 15-2 run over seven minutes of action.  Emma Johnson drained back-to-back three's during the run while the Panthers held Ohio Dominican to nine points in the first quarter.

It was déjà vu in the second frame as Ohio Dominican put just nine points on the board once again.  Wesleyan was held to 15 points, their fewest of any quarter, but were able to take a 34-18 lead to the break after outshooting Ohio Dominican .452 to .200 from the floor.

The Panthers were in cruise control during the second half, maintain at least a 15-point lead throughout the final 20 minutes of action.  Keelie Lamb capped off a 120- run for Wesleyan to take a 27-point lead with just over five minutes remaining.  Ohio Dominican recorded a lay up in the final 30 seconds but Wesleyan was able to take the contest 75-44.

Lamb led the offense with 20 points, reaching double figures for the ninth time this season.  Johnson was right behind with 18 points of 8-13 shooting.  Jenna Martin also reach double figures, scoring 11 points.

Kaylee Clifford grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, six of which were defensive.  Lily Grimes led the team with four assists while Martin and Lamb both tabbed three steals.

Wesleyan scored 27 points off of 24 forced turnovers.  The Panthers outscored Ohio Dominican in the paint by a tally of 36-16 while also holding the advantage in bench off the bench, 34-11.

The Panthers close out their four-game road trip on Saturday, facing the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley University at 12 pm CT.
