ELKINS, W.Va. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team found the hot hand on Saturday, defeating Davis & Elkins in straight sets. Danielle Brouillette finished with 12 kills as the Panthers picked-up their first Great Midwest Conference victory of the season.
The Panthers (6-5, 1-2 G-MAC) found themselves trailing 21-18 late in the opening set, but Alexa Davis started a rally that would push Wesleyan across the finish line first 25-23. Davis' kill ignited a 5-0 run that returned a two-point edge to the Panthers. Sierra Morrow ended the set with a clean kill.
The Senators (3-5, 0-2 G-MAC) used a 6-0 run early in the second set to build a 9-4 lead. D&E eventually would build a 17-11 lead in the second, but the Panthers roared back, this time with a 9-0 run. Nilah Roy converted on four kills during the rally. Three straight points from Wesleyan at the end, including an ace from Roy finished off D&E, 25-21.
The back-and-forth battler continued in the third as the Panthers saved their best hitting performance of the afternoon for the finish. Wesleyan held a .200 attacking percentage in the final set in closing out the Senators 25-22.
Roy added 10 kills on the day with 11 digs. Lydia Jackson set-up the offense with 24 assists.
