OWENSBORO, KY. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team got back to its winning ways on Friday evening at Jones Gymnasium. The Panthers took down Ohio Dominican 3-1 to record their 10th win of the season.
Ohio Dominican (2-15, 0-9 G-MAC) came back to win the opening set 25-22. The Panthers (10-8, 5-5 G-MAC) sputtered offensively in the second set, trailing 13-9. Wesleyan fought back and tied the set at 15 after Nilah Roy's kill. The frame was still knotted, this time at 19, when Jaylen McEwen produced back-to-back kills.
The run did not stop there as the Panthers won another pair of points to build a four-point lead. Roy later ended the set with a kill, giving Wesleyan a 25-21 victory.
The Panthers held an attacking percentage .250 in the third set. Winning 12 of the final 13 points, Wesleyan took the third set 25-16. The hot-streak continued in the fourth set as the Panthers started with a 9-2 run and later put away ODU 25-11.
McEwen finished the game with 16 kills and a .238 attacking percentage. Autumn Harris added 10 kills and four block assists while Nicole Venema defensively finished with 30 digs.
The Panthers will host Ohio Valley on Saturday. The match is scheduled to start at 11:30 AM.
