Wesleyan Edges Trevecca in Five

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team squeaked by Trevecca Nazarene University on Tuesday evening in a five set thriller.  With the win, the Panthers improve to 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference while the Trojans fall under .500 at 5-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

Wesleyan controlled the first two sets, taking them both by a tally of 25-16 and 25-22.  The Trojans fought back to win sets three and four, both in extra points at 28-26 and 26-24.

The fifth set followed suit, going to extra points once again.  Trevecca utilized a 6-1 run to take a 9-4 before Danielle Brouillette halted their momentum with a kill on the assist from Kylie Foster.  After the Trojans stole the next point, Wesleyan tallied four straight points to cut the deficit to one.  Alexa Davis and Autumn Harris both recorded a kill while Lydia Jackson served up an ace.

Another 4-0 run gave the Panthers their first lead of the set at 13-11 on kills from Sierra Morrow and Harris.  Trevecca bounced back to tie it up at 13 before a Trojan error gave the Panthers match point.  The two teams traded tallies over the next six points, giving Wesleyan a 17-16 lead.  Morrow put the match away with a kill on an assist from Jackson.

Harris led the Panthers with 17 kills followed by Nilah Roy at 13 and Danielle Brouillette at 10.  Morrow recorded team-high's with three aces and five blocks.  Jackson recorded 35 assists while Nicole Venema added 27 digs.

Wesleyan heads to Ohio this weekend for a pair of G-MAC matches.  The Panthers take on Malone University on Friday before heading to Walsh University on Saturday.
