XENIA, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team is not finished yet. The Panthers avoided elimination with 3-0 victory over Ohio Dominican University at Athletes in Action Sports Complex on Friday night.
Maci Brown pitched another shutout while
Jamie Tempel provided the run support.
Brown earned a no decision on Thursday against ODU, but dealt a complete-game shutout on Friday in the rematch. After a scoreless first inning,
Caitlyn Lawson led-off the bottom of the second inning with a single. With one-out Tempel came to plate and squared-up Cameron Barber's offering, clearing the right field fence.
Kristen Bales looked to have a play at the wall, but the ball cleared the fence and her glove. The hits kept coming in the frame as Wesleyan added another tally to extend its lead to 3-0. ODU (35-21) was playing its third game of the day as Brown limited them to just two hits in seven stress free innings.
Brown also struck-out four while throwing 70 pitches on the night.
Jaclyn Parker was two for three on the night.
Meredith Daunhauer finished the game two for four with a run scored and a stolen base.
The Panthers have earned the right to play for the Great Midwest Title for the second season in a row. Standing in the way is Hillsdale College. Wesleyan will have to take down the Chargers twice on Sunday to return to the NCAA Tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 11 AM CT.
