FINDLAY, Ohio - The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team fell in three contested sets on Saturday morning. Jaylen McEwen led the Panthers offensively with 10 kills.
The Panthers (11-10, 6-6 G-MAC) were in a tight spot in the opening set, trailing 21-16. With the Oilers (15-3, 10-2 G-MAC) in sound control, Wesleyan rallied with six straight points to take a 22-21 lead. Alexa Davis, Nilah Roy, and Mallory Sacre each had kills in the run.
Davis later gave the Panthers a 24-22 lead with another kill, but four straight points allowed the Oilers to take an early lead after a 26-24 win of the opening set.
In the second frame, the Oilers produced a run of their own after stumbling early. Trailing 10-8, Findlay rattled-off six straight points to take a 14-10 lead. Holding a .382 attacking percentage, the Oilers maintained their cushion in winning the second 25-21.
The momentum continued for the Oilers in the third set as they hit . 500 in the frame. Despite a late run by the Panthers, Findlay closed out the match 25-17.
Davis added seven kills to complement McEwen's 10. Both Kylie Foster and Lydia Jackson dished-out 10 assists. Nicole Venema finished with 13 digs.
The Panthers will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana on Friday to compete at the Crossover.
