Football Falls in Final Road Game of the Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the first time in program history, the Kentucky Wesleyan College football team battled against Ohio Dominican University on Saturday afternoon, falling 63-7 to one of the newest members of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Kentucky Wesleyan moves to 2-7 on the season and 1-5 in conference play while Ohio Dominican  improves to 6-3 overall and stays undefeated in the G-MAC at 6-0.

Ohio Dominican stormed out to a 28-point lead, tabbing four touchdowns in the first 20 minutes of play.

A well-executed hurry-up offense allowed Kentucky Wesleyan to tally a 65-yard drive in two minutes and 30 seconds.  Mike McGee connected with Jacob Yates on two straight plays for a gain of 27-yards and a 13-yard catch from Corey Johnson put the Panthers into the red zone.  McGee found LaDarrius Dunn for a 14-yard touchdown catch and Chris Logsdon converted the extra point, putting the Panthers on the board at 28-7.

Ohio Dominican tabbed a touchdown in the closing minute of the first half to take a 35-7 lead to the break. The Panthers recorded 21 points in the third quarter and seven in the final frame to take the match up 63-7.

McGee finished with 191-yards on 21 completions with one touchdown.  Dunn led the Kentucky Wesleyan receivers with 52-yards on three catches.  Corey Johnson led the running backs with 82-yards while David White averaged 5.2-yards per carry.

Ty Martin-Miles led the defense with 10 tackles including six solo and one for a loss of two-yards.  Michael Malone returned to the playing field this week, tabbing eight tackles.  Jonathan Dooley also recorded eight tackles and one for a loss.  James Todd and Moe Carter each tallied one pass break-up.

Kentucky Wesleyan will host Alderson Broaddus on November 11th for its 2017 season finale set for a 1 pm CT kick off.  The Panthers will honor its senior class with a pre-game ceremony.
