Box Score

Kentucky Wesleyan came away with a five set victory over Brescia on Tuesday evening at the Next Level Sports Complex in Owensboro. The Panthers won the match (27-25, 26-24, 22-25, 16-25, 15-7). KWC is now 3-5 on the season.

The Panthers were able to hold in the first two sets, after both teams went back-and-forth at each other. Freshman Sierra Morrow led KWC with four kills in the set, as they held off a late rally from the Bearcats. In the second set, it was the same story. Elizabeth Gober tallied 6 kills to preserve the set for the Panthers.

KWC had an opportunity to sweep Brescia, but fell just short in the third set, after a close battle. Brescia used their third set victory as momentum heading into the fourth set, where they gave Kentucky Wesleyan trouble. Brescia jumped out to a big lead early, and the Panthers were unable to ever close the gap in the set.

Kentucky Wesleyan would regroup in the fifth set, and they came out attacking the net. The Panthers opened up the final set with a 10-4 lead, and cruised to a 15-7 set victory.

When it was all said and done, the Panthers finished with four players in double figures with kills. Elizabeth Gober led KWC with 12 kills, while Sierra Morrow, Gabrielle Gallois, and Audrey Baysinger each produced 11 kills. Nicole Venema registered a season-high 39 digs. Hannah Pierce also collected 15, and Kylie Foster and Courtney Gildea both finished with 11. Foster also added a team-high 22 assists. Morrow also led Kentucky Wesleyan with six block assists. The Panthers as a team collected 11 total blocks in the match.

KWC will travel next to West Virginia, where they will play Salem International on Saturday.
