The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team will face off with Ursuline in the first round of the G-MAC softball tournament in Xenia, Ohio. The game has been slated for Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. CT. The tournament is double elimination, with the upcoming rounds TBA.
Kentucky Wesleyan and Ursuline will meet for the first time this season, as their regular season series at Ursuline was cancelled.
The Panthers ended the regular season with an overall record of (23-21, 16-6 G-MAC). The Panthers are also the number two seed for the tournament.
The Arrows went (15-25, 9-15 G-MAC) on the year, and finished in fifth place in the conference standings.
Kentucky Wesleyan enters the post-season winning eight out of their last nine games. KWC also took three out of four at home in their season finale series with Salem International.
Kentucky Wesleyan has four players who hit over .300 throughout the regular season. Meredith Daunhauer led the Panthers in batting average overall, hitting .408, which ranks third among all G-MAC players.
Jessica Carmon hit .370, Courtney Lockwood finished .342, and Mackenzie Weedman hit .328.
Weedman leads the Panthers in RBI's, triples, and is tied for first with Kaci Ovelgoenner for homeruns this year.
Pitchers Maci Brown and Casey Smith have both won 19 games combined this season. Both pitchers were also named G-MAC Pitcher Of The Week this year. Brown won the award twice, while Smith won the award once.
Brown has thrown nearly 100 innings, and has pitched in 20 games this season. She has struck out 77 batters this season, and has thrown eight complete games so far this year.
Casey Smith has thrown nine complete games this year, and has struck out 64 batters. Smith leads the Panthers with four complete game shutouts this season.
