Panthers sweep doubleheader vs. Bellarmine, improve to 21-3 at home this season

The Kentucky Wesleyan baseball team won both games against Bellarmine on Tuesday afternoon at Panther Park in non-conference play. KWC won game one 11-2, and then won the second game by a score of 5-1. Kentucky Wesleyan has now won four straight games, and improves to 21-3 in home games at Panther Park this year.

KWC is now (26-11, 11-1 G-MAC) on the season.

Game one

The Panthers never trailed, and were in control from start to finish.

Andrew Kirkland hit a two-run homerun over the centerfield wall to get things going for the Panthers in the bottom of the second.

Kentucky Wesleyan would score another run in the bottom of the fourth off of a bases loaded walk. Bellarmine would score two runs in the top of the fifth to close the gap down to 3-2, but KWC responded with two runs of their own to push the advantage back to 5-2.

In the top of the sixth, Kentucky Wesleyan exploded for six runs. Jacob Snodgrass and Adam Brown both picked up RBI's, and then Andrew Kirkland recorded his fourth RBI of the game off a single to left field.

Later on in the inning, Cody Bridges smacked a two-run RBI single in the gap, as the Panthers began to take over the game with a 9-2 lead. Nathan Stemle then brought home two more off a single, and the Panthers led 11-2.

Ryan Hundley got the start on the mound, and registered his first win of the season. Hundley gave up just two earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. Aaron Hendrickson threw the final 2.1 innings of the game, and struck out two batters.

Andrew Kirkland finished the game going 3-3 with four RBI's. Kirkland also scored three runs in the game. Jacob Snodgrass recorded his eighth double of the season, and also collected an RBI for KWC. Cody Bridges had three hits in the contest with three RBI's. Adam Brown snatched two hits in the game too.
 
Game two

Kentucky Wesleyan once again got off to a fast start. The Panthers scored one run in the bottom of the first, as Troy Paris hit an RBI single to left to give KWC the early 1-0 lead.
Bellarmine scored a run in the top of the third off of an error, but Kentucky Wesleyan scored two runs in the bottom of the third, after Adam Brown connected on a two-run RBI double to put the Panthers ahead 3-1.

Troy Paris crushed a solo home run in the top of the fifth that easily cleared the centerfield wall for a 4-1 lead. It was Paris' eighth homer of the season.
In the top of the sixth, Brown knocked a solo homerun to left, and KWC pushed its lead out to a comfortable 5-1 cushion.

Austin Tibbs threw a complete game going all seven innings. Tibbs struck out three in the contest, and won his third game of the season.

Troy Paris led KWC in game two going 2-3 with a team-high three hits and two RBI's. Adam Brown produced two hits in the contest two, and finished with a team-high three RBI's. Jeremy Cline collected two hits in the game.

Kentucky Wesleyan will be back in action this weekend, with a road trip to G-MAC opponent Alderson Broaddus for a four game series.
