Kentucky Wesleyan picked up two more G-MAC wins on Saturday afternoon at Alderson Broaddus in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Panthers won game one 3-0, and took game two 2-1.
Kentucky Wesleyan in now (18-20, 11-5 G-MAC) this year. The Panthers have also now won four straight games.
In both games combined, the Panthers finished with just eight hits. Kentucky Wesleyan's pitching and defense were major keys in both victories today.
In the first game, it was scoreless until the top half of the third. Courtney Lockwood hit an RBI double to centerfield, scoring Meredith Daunhauer for the 1-0 lead.
KWC would score their final two runs of the game in the sixth. Mackenzie Weedman blasted an RBI triple to right, scoring Caitlyn Lawson. Kaci Ovelgoenner hit a sacrifice fly to left field, which brought home Weedman.
Casey Smith was dominant on the mound in the contest for the Panthers. Smith threw a complete game shutout for the third time this season. She gave up just three hits in seven innings of work.
Mackenzie Weedman led the Panthers' offense in game one going 2-3 with an RBI. Both of Weedman's hits were a double and triple.

In the second game, Kentucky Wesleyan didn't score until the top of the seventh, where they were facing a 1-0 deficit. Alderson Broaddus scored its only run of the game in the bottom half of the sixth inning off an RBI single.
KWC only produced three hits in the entire game, but their biggest one came in the seventh.
The Panthers started the inning off with a runner on base, after Courtney Lockwood was hit by a pitch. Mackenzie Weedman then changed the entire lookout of the game off one swing. Weedman knocked a two-run homerun well out of the park to give the Panthers the 2-1 advantage.
That was all pitcher Maci Brown needed going into the bottom of the seventh. Brown threw a complete game, and struck out five batters in her seven innings of work. With the win, Brown has now won eight games this season from the mound.
Kentucky Wesleyan will be back in action tomorrow at Alderson Broaddus, as they will play another doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. with the second game to follow.
