Baseball drops three games at Midwest Regional Crossover

The Kentucky Wesleyan baseball team was unable to come away with a victory this weekend at the Midwest Regional Crossover in Westfield, Ind. The Panthers fall to 9-9 on the season. Kentucky Wesleyan fell to Lewis 8-2 in the first contest, 13-5 against UMSL, and 8-3 to St. Joseph's.

 

In game one against Lewis, the Panthers struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first. Adam Brown and Troy Paris brought in Cody Bridges and Jacob Snodgrass to score. After the first inning, the Panthers would not score the rest of the game.

Kentucky Wesleyan held a 2-1 advantage heading into the sixth inning, but the Flyers would score four runs on three hits to re-claim the lead at 5-2. Lewis would score two more runs in the next inning to lead 7-2. Adam Brown picked up two hits in the game for the Panthers.

Andrew Moralez threw 5.1 innings pitched in the game. He struck out two. Austin Tibbs and Billy McCoy came to pitch in relief.

 

In the second game, the Panthers fell to Missouri-St. Louis 13-5, in a game where they fell behind early. KWC gave up four runs in the second inning, and five in the sixth, as the Tritons opened up a 9-3 lead. For the Panthers, Adam Brown, Troy Paris, and Nathan Stemle each recorded two hits in the contest. Brown and Paris also registered one RBI apiece, and Stemle brought in two.

Sammy Holder got the start for Kentucky Wesleyan. Nate Verst, Spencer Otto, and Logan Mallory all appeared in the game as well.

 

In the final game against Saint Joseph's, the game was scoreless throughout the first four innings of play. Kentucky Wesleyan would score the first runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth, as they scored two runs to take the lead. The Pumas would score all eight of their runs in the next three innings to put KWC away. Pitcher Zach Burton threw five innings, and struck out three batters. Mitchell Jones, Ryan Bailey, and Ryan Hundley all saw action from the mound. Jones would receive the loss in the game. Kentucky Wesleyan only picked up five hits in the game.  

 
?The Panthers will be at home this weekend against Ohio Valley and Salem International.
