Softball opens up conference play at Davis & Elkins



The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team will travel to Elkins, Wva. for a two day doubleheader taking place on Friday and Saturday this weekend to open up Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Panthers had both matchups against Oakland City and Brescia postponed this week due to weather.

Kentucky Wesleyan is also coming off of their Florida trip, where the Panthers played in 12 contests. KWC's current record this season is 3-15.

Davis & Elkins currently holds a record of 12-4 this year. The Senators have eight players who are hitting at least .300 from the plate, including Alyssa Cairns who is hitting a team-high batting average of .694. D&E has won four out of their last six games.

For the Panthers, Meredith Daunhauer is hitting a team-high .433 so far this season. Daunhauer also leads Kentucky Wesleyan with 26 hits, and 10 runs scored. The Panthers have hit five homeruns as a team this season.

Through 45 innings pitched, Maci Brown has an ERA of 2.80. Brown also has thrown a team-high 31 strikeouts this season.
