The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team lost for just the second time this season at home, by a score of 70-58 to Ursuline on Saturday afternoon in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Panthers (12-7, 6-3) also dropped their first G-MAC contest at the Sportscenter this season. The loss also ends KWC's previous three game winning streak.

In the first quarter, Kentucky Wesleyan got off to a quick start. With three point field goals from Jennifer Walker-Crawford and Brittany Wells, the Panthers held an early 8-2 advantage. The Arrows went on a 9-2 run to re-take the lead at 11-10, but Kentucky Wesleyan would end the quarter on a strong note, and led 16-15.

The game remained tight and back and forth in the second quarter. Both teams continued to trade baskets, and Ursuline led 25-21 later on in the period. The Panthers would go on a 9-2 run to end the quarter, and led Ursuline 34-29 at the break. Brittany Wells and Jade Mills-Harris each had seven points for KWC in the first half. The Panthers shot 43% from the floor in the half as well.

Kentucky Wesleyan's offense went inept in the duration of the third quarter. The Panthers only scored five points, and were out-scored by the Arrows in the quarter 24-5. KWC only tailed by six at 45-39 with 3:30 to play, but were unable to score in the final minutes of the quarter, and Ursuline built a 53-39 lead heading into the fourth.

The Panthers were able to find their offense in the fourth quarter, as they out-scored Ursuline 19-17 in the quarter. Kentucky Wesleyan was able to make it eight point game at 55-47 with just under seven minutes to play. Unfortunately, it was a little too late. Ursuline imposed their will down low, and were able to pull away from Kentucky Wesleyan in the final minutes. The Arrows finished with 50 points in the paint.

Three Panther players finished in double figures scoring. Asia Coates and Jennifer Walker-Crawford each scored 11, and Jade Mills-Harris also added 10 points. Brittany Wells and Bria Wright also scored seven points apiece for KWC. Ten Panthers also finished in the scoring column. Kentucky Wesleyan shot only 27% from the field in the second half. The Panthers were able to produce 24 points off of the bench, committed 15 turnovers throughout the contest.

Kentucky Wesleyan will next play on Tuesday evening on the road against Oakland City. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
