Panthers prepare for Cedarville

Game Notes

The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team will host Cedarville on Thursday evening at the Sportscenter, before going on the road to take on Oakland City on Saturday. The Panthers are currently sitting in a three-way tie for first place in the G-MAC, and are (17-3, 5-1 G-MAC) on the season. KWC is a perfect 12-0 at home this year.

Coach Happy Osborne gave his thoughts on the team's conference wins over Salem International and Ohio Valley. "I thought we came back in the second half against Salem, and played really well. Ohio Valley was also a good win for us. We kept our composure throughout all of the game, but I'm really excited about this week. It's the first week we've had Marcus Fuggins in practice for the whole time, and we just need him to stay healthy now."

Cedarville comes into Thursday's contest with a record of (8-11, 1-4 G-MAC). The Yellow Jackets have lost their past two games. Kentucky Wesleyan defeated Cedarville in the first meeting by a score of 88-58. Cedarville has three players who are scoring in double figures, including J.C. Faubion who is scoring 15.9 ppg.

Osborne discussed the re-match with Cedarville, and how it will be a tough game. "We play a good Cedarville team on Thursday, who we barely beat in overtime here in Owensboro last year. It was a game that we were lucky to win. We know heading into this game that they will play a lot of 2-2-1, man press, and will play us primarily zone. This is an important game, and we have to be ready to go. We're in the final month of the regular season, and we just need to bring all of our energy to each game."

Ken-Jah Bosley broke into the KWC all-time top ten scoring list, after scoring a career high 32 points last Saturday against Ohio Valley. Bosley leads the Panthers in scoring with 17.5 ppg. Jordan Jacks, Devin Langford, and C.J. Blackwell are also scoring in double figures for Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers as a team are scoring 85.1 points per game, and are holding opponents to 67.6 points each game.

Osborne on the play of his senior laden bunch: "I'm proud of all of them. They've been a pleasure to coach, and they've worked hard. At this point in time, I really feel that Tamron Manning is coming on. Marcus Fillyaw has been a great leader and player. Devin Langford and C.J. Blackwell have both had really good senior years. Jermaine Morgan has really improved for us, and it's good to have Marcus Fuggins back. Basil Deveaux has been a huge lift for us off of the bench. He is an excellent defender, and he brings tremendous energy for us."

Osborne also discussed the small things his guys need to improve on. "All I want us to do is challenge shots, and drive out on block outs. If we had done that, we would have beaten Trevecca. We also need to be better at communicating. Everything that we've been doing I feel that we can improve on just a little bit."
