Baseball sweeps host Claflin, 10-5, 13-0

Kentucky Wesleyan swept host Claflin, 10-5 and 13-0, in Orangeburg, SC on Saturday afternoon.
 
In the opener, the Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 in the top of the first on RBI double by Jeremy Cline to score Jacob Snodgrass and Cody Bridges. Josh Galvan followed with a RBI single to send Cline home. Claflin scored in the bottom of the third.
 
The second saw KWC add three more. Seth Campbell scored on a passed ball. Snodgrass hit a two run homer to bring Bridges to the plate. CU scored two in fourth in cut the lead to 6-3.
 
Once again the Panthers scored three in the fifth. Cline hit a two run homer to drive Troy Paris in followed by Andrew Kirkland's solo home run.
 
Adam Brown RBI double in the sixth brought Snodgrass home to extend the advantage to 10-3. CU scored two in the seventh to end the contest.
 
Cline went two for four with four RBIs and Snodgrass was two for three with two RBIs and three runs scored. Bridges and Brown also posted two hits.
 
Andrew Morales earned the win by pitching six innings and fanning eight batters. Michael Sutton closed the final inning.
 
In the second contest, Evan Mohr, Ryan Bailey and Ryan Hundley threw the combined 13-0 shutout with 12 strikeouts.
 
Paris hit a two RBI double to drive Brown and Bridges home and Galvan hit a RBI single to knock in Paris for a 3-0 lead in the first. Snodgrass added a RBI single driving home Campbell in the second.
 
The Panthers exploded in the fourth with four runs to push the advantage out to 8-0. Cline hit his second double of the day to send Paris to the plate. Kirkland then hit a three-run homer knocking in Galvan and Cline.
 
Campbell hit a RBI single with Galvan and Cline crossing the plate in the fifth. Cline collected second homer of the day pushing Paris home for the 12-0 lead in the sixth.
 
Paris closed the Panthers scoring with a sacrifice fly RBI driving Bridges in for the final run.
 
Cline, Kirkland and Paris each had three RBIs. Cline also had three hits in five plate appearances. Brown and Snodgrass gathered two hits. Cline and Paris each scored three runs.
 
Evan Mohr received the win by pitching 4.1 innings and tossing seven strikeouts. Bailey pitched 1.2 innings and three strikeouts. Hundley tossed one frame and produced two strikeouts.
 
The Panthers (6-4) play Claflin in a doubleheader on Sunday.
