Game Notes
The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team will travel on the road to face Ohio Valley and Salem International on Thursday and Saturday. The games this weekend wrap up the Panthers regular season, with the conference tournament set for the following weekend. Kentucky Wesleyan won both previous meetings between OVU and Salem, by scores of 73-56, and 79-36. Kentucky Wesleyan is (15-8, 8-4 G-MAC) on the season, and is coming off of a 69-44 blowout win over Alderson Broaddus.
KWC has won six out of their past eight contests. In each of the last six wins, the Panthers have won by double digits. Their closest margin of victory was 13 against Cedarville. Kentucky Wesleyan is 4-3 on the road this year. The Panthers' defense has only given up 60 points or more in two games since January 16th.
Brittany Wells continues to lead the Panthers in scoring this season with 12.5 points per game. Jennifer Walker-Crawford is second in the scoring category for KWC with 10.9 points per game. Bria Wright has recorded at least 12 rebounds in the past three contests, and posted her first double-double of the season on Thursday against Davis & Elkins, with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Wright leads KWC with 6.3 rebounds each game. Jill Jones leads Kentucky Wesleyan in assists with 2.3 per game. She dished out a team-high five assists on Saturday. As a team, the Panthers are holding opponents to under 60 points per game defensively.
Ohio Valley is (4-20, 2-10 G-MAC) on the season this year. The Fighting Scots had lost eight straight games, until they defeated Alderson Broaddus in overtime a week ago. OVU is 3-7 in home contests this year.
Salem International played KWC to overtime the last time both teams met in West Virginia. The Tigers are currently in last place in the G-MAC standings, and are (4-22, 1-11 G-MAC) this season. Their lone conference win came against Ohio Valley.
Thursday's game will begin at 4:30 p.m. CT, and Saturday's will begin at 1 p.m. CT.
