Kentucky Wesleyan lost to host Maryville, 6-5 in nine innings and 2-1, at St. Charles, Mo., on Saturday afternoon.
 
In the opener, the Panthers exploded with five runs in the third for the 5-0 lead. Mackenzie Weedman hit a two-run single to drive in Meredith Daunhauer and Jaclyn Parker. Shelby Tennant hit a three-run single to bring home Courtney Lockwood, Samantha Marksbury and Weedman.
 
The Saints came back to score two in the fifth, two in the sixth, one in the seventh and the winning run in the ninth.
 
Casey Smith started on the mound for the Panthers. She went five innings picking up two strikeouts. AJessica Carmon threw two inning and had one strikeout.  Autumn Grady received the loss in 1.1 inning with one strikeout.
 
In the night cap, Maryville jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third. Kaci Ovelgoenner connected on a double to tie the score with Daunhaue crossing the plate. The Saints score the game-inning run in sixth.
 
Maci Brown threw six innings and two strikeouts in the loss.
 
Kentucky Wesleyan (0-4) plays a doubleheader at McKendree on Sunday.
