Basketball teams return to action on Saturday and Sunday on the road

Kentucky Wesleyan's men's and women's teams will return to the hardwood on Saturday and Sunday on the road.

KWC's women's team will travel to St. Louis for a rematch with UMSL, who they have already beaten this season. The Panthers took down the Tritons in the second game of the year at the Pops Duncan Classic in Nashville, 72-66. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

The Panthers have won five straight games (5-1), and Brittany Wells currently leads the G-MAC in scoring with an impressive 22.5 points per game. Wells also leads the conference in field goal percentage (60.5), three-point field goal percentage (56.5), and free throw percentage (92.3).

As a team, the Panthers are second in the conference in rebounding margin, and are third in total offense (74.7) and defense (65.8).

The men's team won't play again until Sunday, when they face Illinois-Springfield from the GLVC at 2 p.m.

Kentucky Wesleyan is 6-2 on the year this season, but Sunday's contest will be the first true road game of the year.

The Panthers played in Evansville on a neutral court for the Small College Basketball Hall Of Fame Classic back in November. Kentucky Wesleyan is coming off of 1 114-89 blowout victory over Salem International last Sunday, where seven Panther players reached double figures scoring.

KWC boasts an 8-0 lead over the Prairie Stars in the all-time series. The Panthers defeated UIS 84-72 in Owensboro last season.

As of right now, Kentucky Wesleyan holds several top statistical categories in the conference. The Panthers are first in offense (86.9), defense (74.5), scoring margin ( 12.4), field goal percentage (51.1), three-point field goal percentage (46.4), free throw percentage (79.3), assists (15.3), and turnover margin ( 2.5).

The Panthers' 46.4 three-point field goal percentage also ranks fifth in the NCAA. Ken-Jah Bosley and Jordan Jacks have paved the way for KWC's offense in the first eight games. Bosley is averaging 20 points per game, while Jacks is averaging 17.5 ppg, and eight rebounds.

Live coverage for both games this weekend will be available via live stats and video.
