Panthers take care of business at Illinois Springfield, 88-63

Box Score Kentucky Wesleyan put together a blistering and dominating effort on Sunday afternoon in their 88-63 rout on the road against Illinois Springfield. The Panthers never trailed throughout the contest, and improve to 7-2 on the year. KWC has now won five straight games.

How it happened
In the first five minutes, the Panthers quickly spurt out to a 12-2 advantage.

Kentucky Wesleyan was scoring with ease every across the floor. Michael Vigilance and Adam Stanford scored on back-to-back jumpers to extend the lead out to 39-19.

The Panthers ended the final five minutes of the half with strong defense, which also led to easy buckets on the other end of the floor.

KWC led 57-34 at the break, and shot 50 percent from the field and from three-point range.

The Panthers kept rolling into second half, after a quick 14-5 run in the first five minutes gave KWC a 71-38 lead.

The largest lead of the contest was at 83-44 with just under ten minutes left.
 
Inside the box score
Jordan Jacks and Michael Vigilance paced the way for the Panthers in the dominating victory.

Jacks totaled 21 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Jacks collected a double-double in the first half with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Vigilance finished the afternoon with 11 points and 14 rebounds. He collected 12 rebounds in the second half.

Brandon Hatton and Adam Stanford both reached double figures in scoring with 11 and 10 points respectively. Hatton shot 3-5 from three-point range in the contest. Stanford also tallied seven rebounds.

Guards Ken-Jah Bosley and Shaakir Lindsey each finished with nine points apiece. Lindsey connected on a season-high 3-4 shooting from behind the arc.

Sam Williams and Charles Foster chipped in with seven and six points. Foster dished out four assists.

The Panthers shot 43 percent from the floor, and knocked down 10 three-point field goals.

KWC also controlled the rebounding margin on the Prairie Stars 52-37.

The Panthers forced 20 turnovers, and scored 20 points off of turnovers.

The Panthers' bench also produced 40 points in the victory, while KWC collected a total of 32 points inside the paint and 18 second chance points.


Next up
The Panthers will return to the Sportscenter this weekend, as KWC plays host to the Wesleyan Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The first game is set for Friday evening at 7:15 p.m. against Southern Wesleyan.
