Panthers open up season with GLIAC/G-MAC Challenge on Friday

Kentucky Wesleyan will open up the 2016 regular season at home at the Sportscenter against Wayne State and Tiffin on Friday and Saturday. The first game on Friday night will be played at 7:15, while Saturday's contest will begin at 3:15. There will be four teams playing over the weekend, as it has been tabbed, the GLIAC/G-MAC Challenge. The other participant from the G-MAC is Alderson Broaddus.

The Panthers played in the GLIAC/G-MAC Challenge on the road in Michigan against both teams last year to start the season. With a high hope of expectations this season, the Panthers look to the season started off right.

Tiffin played Kentucky Wesleyan last season in Michigan and gave the Panthers a fight. KWC held off the Dragons, 78-76. Kentucky Wesleyan shot 58 percent from the floor in last year's season-opener against Wayne State. The Panthers cruised to an 82-51 victory.

Ken-Jah Bosley scored 42 points in the Panthers' last exhibition contest at Western Kentucky on Saturday. Bosley led KWC in scoring last season with 16 points per game.

Jordan Jacks, who sat out last Saturday's exhibition game, was the only Panther player to score in double figures and average more than five rebounds per contest. Jacks recorded a double-double in the first exhibition game last Thursday at Louisville.

Kentucky Wesleyan will look to new faces outside of Bosley, Jacks, and Adam Stanford to help contribute this season. Through the two exhibition games, Charles Foster, Josh Derksen, Shaakir Lindsey, Sam Williams, Brandon Hatton, and Michael Vigilance have all seen quality time and minutes on the floor.

With it being Veterans weekend, all veterans who provide a photo ID at the general admission gate, will enter for free.

Live video, audio, and stats will be available this weekend.
